Bio

"It is what you are and always will be."

And what is that?

A professional companion.

In the website of my previous iteration, I noted that I knew, from a young age, what my profession would be.  Some call it intuition; I wouldn't disagree.  For many moons, however, I didn't listen to my intuition and, instead, pursued objectives that, although I was interested in, were more in conformity with social expectations.  To that end I completed a BA in Economics (emphasis on the Middle East), an MA in Linguistics (Arabic and French), and a Ph.D. in Counseling (which, incidentally, is what I'd intended to major in as an undergraduate when my path was diverted by a professor who suggested I spend some time studying economics.  I have no regrets.).

My degrees led to work in a variety of fields:  business, non-profit, academia, and therapy.  However, with each professional venture I felt something was missing, that a part of me was giving too much without getting in return that which I found fulfilling.  Each time I returned to work as a professional companion, however, I noticed myself saying, "Yes.  This fits, in all the right ways."

John Scalzi wrote, "I feel that the work I'm doing is the work I was destined to do."  My sentiments exactly.  I feel that I make a difference in my clients' lives and that, in some circumstances, they can breathe easier each night knowing that they have somewhere to turn, somewhere they're treated like a whole person, not merely as "a wallet."  I try to "be the change I want to see" and, for this reason, give 110% during each session -- two fully present adults enjoying time together that, perhaps in the long term, may make positive differences in all of our lives.
